Damascus,(ST)- Activities of the textile and leather clothing exhibition MODATEX Spring-Summer 2016 were kicked off recently at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus. The event was held by the Syrian Exporters’ Federation (SEF) and Syrian Authority for Promotion and Development of Syrian Exports and with the participation of a number of companies working in the field clothing and leather production.
Industrialists and traders from various Syrian provinces offer their products of textile and clothing.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Samer Khalil, stressed that the textile, clothing and leather is one of the important sectors in Syria and the presence of so many participants in the show is a clear evidence of recovery of production and its development to meet the needs of the domestic market and to export abroad.
Mr. Khalil pointed out that the SEF has a real and significant will to support the productive sector in Syria as well as textile, clothing and leather sector.
Head of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation Mohammed al Sawah confirmed that the SEF will provide the necessary support for exporters and support to the industrial sector.
He pointed out that the SEF provided to exhibitors and Participants from various Syrian governorates all necessary facilities for them for their support and assistance.
Director of the Development Authority and the Promotion of Exports, Ihab Ismandar stressed that textile sector is very important andhas proved its ability to support the national economy, pointing out that the textile industry accounts for about 40 percent of total exports to Syria.
For his part, Iyad Mohammed Khazen said that the aim of the exhibition is to support industrial and domestic production and access to domestic and international markets, pointing out that the SEF provides manufacturers a chance to re-prove the existence.
In a statement to local press, Chairman of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation Mohammed al –Sawah said that this exhibition,, hosted by the SEF in the field of fashion and leather inside Syria, started last year, whereas two sessions were held in Damascus and Lattakia, pointing out that this exhibition achieved great success and contributed to the revitalization of the internal market.
Mr. al –Sawah drew attention that the SEF has exerted efforts to increase Syrian exports to Iran Russia through signing new to agreements facilitate trade exchange and activation of what was agreed upon from the exemptions in prior periods, especially with Iran, expecting that the Syrian exports will witness a big stride in the current year.
