70 aid trucks enter terrorist-besieged areas outside Damascus

Around 70 trucks carrying aid have entered several terrorist-besieged areas in Damascus countryside, according to the al-Thawra newspaper.

The paper reported yesterday that 15 aid trucks loaded with food and medicine entered Tuesday morning Kafer Batna area in Damascus countryside province in parallel with entering 55 aid trucks to Moaddameyeh district and surrounding areas in the same province.

It indicated that a big quantity of aid were distributed last week among people living in al-Tal city, Madaya and Zabadani areas outside Damascus.

In this context, Syria’s Permanent Envoy to the United Nations Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari stressed yesterday the Syrian government’s adherence to offer humanitarian aid to all people affected by the crisis nationwide.

He made it clear that terrorist organizations besiege- from inside- Moaddameyeh, Madaya, Duma and other areas in Damascus countryside.

“Terrorists prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid to people in these areas and they seize the aid to sell them to the people living there. That is why we have not seen photos of starving ‘moderate’ terrorists,” al-Jaafari said at the UN Security Council session on the humanitarian status in Syria.

He added that some countries that have imposed coercive measures against the Syrian people have not explained yet how weapons, money and terrorists continue to flow to the areas, which these countries claim that they are besieged by the Syrian government.

On February 16th, the Syrian government informed the United Nations about its approval to enter humanitarian aid convoys to Der Ezzour city, Kafraya and al-Fou’a towns in Idleb countryside and to Madaya, Moaadameyeh, Zabadani and KaferBatna areas in Damascus countryside.
