Damascus, (ST) – Some 122 Syrian Companies joined recently to the activities of the Global Village in Dubai Fair and displayed food, textile products and sweets in a special pavilion extends over four thousand square meters.
Chairman of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation (SEF), Mohammed al Sawah, during the opening ceremony, clarified that the Syrian participation in the fair reflects the great diversity of the Syrian crafts and industries, which lasted and proved its presence despite the difficult circumstances faced by the country, pointing out that the SEF provides support to the half of the Syrian companies participating in the fair.
Mr. al -Sawah said that this participation represents the biggest challenge for Syrian exports in the face of circumstances and obstacles caused by the economic blockade of the unjust embargo on Syria and that the Syrian citizen and the structure of the national economy is targeted in the first place, noting that the issue of the arrival of Syrian product to the overseas markets has become one of the most important goals on the map of the work of the SEF in coordination with the concerned authorities .
Chairman of the SEF explained that the Global Village Fair is the largest market in Dubai and held over 160 days during the year and the number of visitors is about five million people from around the world, pointing to the diversity of the terms of reference of the Syrian companies participating in the Global Village as the garment sector won 10 percent of the number of companies, 20 percent of the food sector, 20 percent of the cotton wear, shoes and leather sector acquired 20 percent, plastic arts, painting and handicraft industrials 5 percent.
Mr. al –Sawah pointed out that the SEF is going on its plans to support the Syrian producers through exhibitions, whereas three fairs will be held during February in Damascus, Dubai and Tehran. The exhibitions will include food and textile industries.
