Participants in PUIC conference call for a political solution to the crisis in Syria

Baghdad – The final communiqué of the 11th session of the Parliamentary Union of the organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC) conference held in Baghdad called for finding political solution to the crisis in Syria and Yemen, fighting terrorism and terrorist organizations, mainly ISIS, and criminalizing the fatawa that incite hatred and violence, SANA reported.

The conference was launched earlier Sunday where Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham demanded that the governments and parliaments of world countries work on fighting terrorism, in case they are serious and sincere about supporting the Syrian people.

 The communiqué entitled “Baghdad Declaration” asserted the firm rights of all peoples to acquire the modern technologies and their usage, calling for making the Middle East region free from Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).

The participants expressed solidarity with the Palestinian cause, urging the Security Council to stop all kinds of Israeli settlement aiming at changing the legal statue and to remove all these settlements.

The participants affirmed, in their Baghdad Declaration, the necessity of maintaining the sovereignty of Iraq and not allowing any external intervention in its internal affairs according the UN Charter.
