Activating Foreign Exhibitions and Stimulating Internal Investment

Damascus, (ST)- General Director of the General Establishment for Trade and Financial Markets (GETFM) Faress Al Kortelli  confirmed yesterday  that the GETFM witnessed a remarkable activity last year, whereas 63 exhibitions and economic activities were held in industrial, food, health and agricultural fields in addition to the bazaars and shopping festivals.

In a statement to local press, Mr. Al -Kortelli  said that there is a committee for the selection of the exhibits and its task is to study the offered products and their quality in addition to the participants in these exhibitions.

 

 “ The GETFM seeks to stimulate and develop its work constantly and its plan for the current year aims at activating agreements and memorandums of understanding to deal similarly with friendly countries such as Algeria, Iran, Russia, Egypt and Iraq,” Mr. Al –Kortelli clarified .

He pointed out that “the GETFM is working to invest the pavilions of the fairgrounds city through leasing them to companies and industrial workshops, noting that the fairgrounds revenues reached last year to about 120 million Syrian pounds.

 “Partnership between the public sector entities and the relevant bodies Exports Development Association, Syrian Exporters Federation, Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture contributed to organize exhibitions for the marketing and promotion of national products abroad, especially in Iraq, Lebanon, Algeria, Russia and Iran,” Mr. Al –Kortelli concluded.
