SEF Signs Agreements with Russian Delegation

Damascus, (ST)- Syrian Exporters’ Federation (SEF) recently discussed  with a Russian delegation ways of activating trade exchange required to sign a customs agreement between the two countries.

President of the SEF Mohammed al -Sawah confirmed that work is going on to sign an agreement between the Syrian and Russian sides concerning customs exemptions and access to Russian markets.

 

“We discussed with  the Russian side the issue of investments in agricultural and industrial fields and seek to promote economic cooperation to reach the level of political relations,” Mr. al –Sawah said.

 For his part, a member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Ziad Sabsabi, stressed that “communication is going on to sign the agreement which will be issued in the next few days and that relate to semi free trade exchange with the Russian Federation.”

The Russian Commercial and Economic Attaché Dr. Igor Matvev clarified that the development of trade exchange between the two countries needs to establish a trading system between them, stressing that “the Russian Embassy in Syria will spare no effort for the sake of this issue, including legislative steps with the participation of the Russian and Syrian governments private sectors  for the benefit of two countries. “

Mr. Matvev noted that the customs agreement is an integral part of our joint efforts in this area and we look forward joint ventures and increase the volume of trade exchange between our two countries, noting that the markets are open between the two countries and we exert more efforts to realize the benefit of the two peoples.

He added “We are waiting for a visit from the Russian government party to Syria and in the case of the signing of the agreement it will be “a unique move and concrete” and there is a political decision of the two countries to promote economic and trade relations between them, pointing out that the meetings will take place soon to find a stable financial mechanisms to revive the transactions and joint contracts in the field of trade and industry and that the Russian market needs many products from Syria.
