Putin, Renzi Discuss Iran-Saudi Arabia Tensions

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone talk with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, discussing current tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran and coordination in fight against terrorism, the Kremlin press service said Friday.

During an exchange of views on topical issues on the international agenda, the main focus was on settlement of the crisis in Syria, as well as the situation unfolding between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

In this context, the importance of closely coordinating efforts in the fight against international terrorism was noted,’ the press service said in a statement.

 

Moreover, Vladimir Putin and Matteo Renzi noted the importance of continuing cooperation on mutually beneficial energy projects.

A number of issues regarding Russian-Italian cooperation were constructively, thoroughly discussed. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing cooperation to implement mutually beneficial energy projects,’ the press service said in a statement.
