Syrian Moslems and Christians Lived in peace, Fraternity and Amity throughout History: Bishop Maalouli

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Bishop Ephrem Maaouli, the Patriarchal Vicar of Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All East has stressed that the Syrians, both Moslems and Christians, are living, as they did throughout history, in an atmosphere of peace, fraternity and amity.”

“They were born in the same place and will stay together…this is the secret of their steadfastness over the past five years,” Bishop Maalouli said during his meeting with members of the International Youth Forum for Solidarity with Syria at the Patriarchate of Antioch and All East for the Greek Orthodox, the Mariamite Cathedral in Damascus.

“We, the Syrians, are different from other peoples of world countries in the fact that we are still living as brothers and defending our homeland without allowing anybody to separate us.”

On their part, members of the youth forum voiced their solidarity with Syria in the face of the foreign conspiracy. They expressed their condemnation of the support being provided by some regional and Western countries to the terrorists who are killing innocent people, terrorizing the Syrians and destroying their public and private properties.

Following the meeting, Members of the delegation visited the Ummayyad Mosque in Damascus where they were briefed on its history.

The International Youth Forum for Solidarity with Syria concluded its activities yesterday. The participants called for preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and affirmed their principled stances against US-Zionist imperialism which led to humanitarian crises in the world.

They affirmed the need to combat religious extremism as it is the real terrorism threatening nations by feeding sedition and igniting wars.
