Art exhibition backs DU martyrs’ families

A visual art exhibition was held Tuesday to support the families of 117 Damascus University’s martyrs and to prove the continuity of students’ activities that fight against terrorism thinking.

The exhibition, which was held in the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus, included 8 wall paintings depicting the situation in Syria in the light of the ongoing terror war on it.

The paintings, drawn by professors and students from the Faculty of Fine Arts, were purchased by the Damascus University Council for 1.5 million Syrian Pound to back the martyrs’ families, according to Rector of Damascus University Mohammad Hassan al-Kerdi.

“Damascus University Council decided to purchase the paintings to back the families of martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the homeland,” al-Kerdi said.

Tuesday’s activity reflected that art is at the service of society and humanity, Dr. Saed Sallom from the Faculty of Arts told the official news agency (SANA).

On his part, member of the Baath Arab Socialist Party branch in Damascus University, Ayham al-Horani , disclosed that a book exhibition will be held soon to support martyrs’ families, especially those in need.
