DAMASCUS, (ST)- An International Youth Forum for Solidarity with Syria kicks off today in Damascus under the slogan “Hands off Syria”.

Youth organizations from 20 Arab and foreign countries are taking part in the two-day event, which is organized by the “Revolutionary Youth Union (RYU).

As part of the forum’s activities, delegations from Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine, Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Democratic Korea, Turkey, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Libya, Jordan and the Comoros are due to visit the Ummayyad Mosque, the Patriarchate of Antioch and All East for Greek Orthodox in Damascus, the Unknown Soldier Monument and the School of the Martyrs Sons.

Head of the RYU Ma’en Abboud told SANA that “the forum aims at stressing the solidarity of the Arab and international youth with Syria and its army which is achieving remarkable victories in its battle against takfiri terrorism and its supporters.”

“The event is an important opportunity for representatives of participating youth organizations to know the reality of events in Syria so they can convey to the world a true image about what is really going on in Syria and about the steadfastness of the Syrian state and people in the face of terrorism over the past five years,” he added.

Abboud pointed out that the forum will review the destructive results of the terrorist war that targeted Syria, expressing hope that the forum will come up with constructive recommendations that enhance solidarity with Syria and uncover the parties which support and finance terrorism.

On December 20th 2015, the al-Baath University in Homs hosted the three-day Arab National Youth Forum. Thirteen Arab countries along with Chad took part in the event. Activities included workshops, blood donation campaign in support for the Syrian Arab Army personnel, a visit to Old Homs and a visit to the martyrs cemetery.
