The first Syrian search engine called ‘Shamra’ has been launched with local experiences challenging the nearly five-year old war on the country.
The search engine includes several services – places, news and Academia, and it has been developed by Business Intelligence Software Company since the beginning of 2015, Director of the Shamra project Eng. Shadi Saleh told the Assafir newspaper.
He clarified that the Shamra search engine ‘ www.Shamra.sy’ meets the Syrian people’s demands and understands their questions in Arabic language as well as enriches the Syria digital content.
“The engine can show places located near the user, such as restaurant and hotel, and it allows the user to add a photo or comment on the places he/she visits,” Eng. Saleh said, indicating that 4000 searches were made by 6000 visitors during the first hour of launching the engine.
Well over 20 Syrian software engineers supervise the search engine which includes the first reliable platform for Syrian academic scientific content in Arabic language, according to Eng. Saleh.
All results of search in the engine are taken from Syrian sites only.
Planning Director in the engine Firas Saleh said that the project, which requires support from economic and investment groups, ensures economic services and job opportunities and protects personal information of each user.
The name of the engine was derived from the ‘Ras Shamra’ archeological site in Lattakia province.
Actually, the Syrian youth have recorded remarkable achievements in all fields inside and outside Syria before and after the terror war on the country and they will go ahead despite the difficulties.
