Syrian Army Offensive in Damascus Causes Chaos Among Terrorists

Scores of terrorists, including senior commanders, were killed in a large-scale operation conducted by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the Damascus suburbs of Jobar and Ghouta, the Russian Sputnik reported.

The city of Darayya, the town of Tayibeh and the road of Mokheim Khan al-Sheih-Zakiyeh saw bitter clashes between the government forces and militants over the weekend.

In addition, Syrian warplanes launched airstrikes at terrorist positions near the towns of Harasta al-Qantra, Owtaya and the Marj region in the Eastern part of Damascus province.

The SAA also dropped leaflets saying “surrender now, you have nowhere to go” in a bid to persuade those terrorists, still hiding in Eastern Ghouta, to surrender. The region saw some of the fiercest battles between the government forces and terrorists, who are trying to overthrow Syria’s legitimate president.

Recently, Damascus-led forces took the Marj al-Sultan military airport and its surroundings under control, forcing out the largest terrorist group in the region, Jeish al-Islam. The SAA also killed commanders of several terrorist groups operating in the region, including Ahrar al-Sham, Jeish al-Islam and al-Rahman.

The death of Jeish al-Islam’s commander Zahran Allouch is said to have dealt “a lethal blow” to the group itself and other radical organizations in the country.
