Mikdad: Brotherly relations between Syrian and Turkish peoples historical, unbreakable

Damascus – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad affirmed on Sunday that the brotherly relations between the Syrian and Turkish peoples are historical and no one can break them.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Turkish Homeland Party headed by Ismail Hakki Pekin, Mikdad said that Erdogan’s regime is still committing the most heinous crimes against the Turkish and Syrian peoples by supporting terrorist groups in Syria and restricting freedoms in Turkey, SANA reported.

Al-Mikdad added that Syria never bets on Erdogan’s joining a coalition against ISIS or Jabhat al-Nusra or other organizations linked to al-Qaeda.

He condemned the downing of the Russian warplane over the Syrian territories by Erdogan’s regime, adding that this criminal act came to cover stealing the Syrian oil and ancient monuments by the Turkish regime.

Al-Mikdad stressed Syria’s commitment to a political solution to the crisis based on the Syrian-Syrian dialogue led by Syria without any outside interference, stressing that terrorist groups will not be part of this dialogue.

In turn, Pekin said that most Turkish people are not supporting the policies of Erdogan and his government especially that the Turkish people want the best friendly relations with the Syrians.

He expressed the Turkish people’s concern over the spread of the terrorist existence in the region, stressing on the importance of continued communication between Syrian and Turkish people to serve the interests of both of countries.
