Some States Prefer to Manage Terrorists Not Uproot Them, Says Larijani

Tehran –Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday expressed deep concern about instrumental use of terrorism and said that certain governments prefer to manage terrorist groups rather than uproot them.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with Chairman of the French Senate Gerard Larcher.

Larijani said Iranians have a positive attitude towards the French nation, especially considering the fact that the late Imam Khomeini stayed in France before triumph of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

He said the time is now ripe for expansion of parliamentary and economic relations between Iran and France in light of the common grounds to restore security in the region.

Referring to visit of various foreign delegations to Iran, Larijani said after the Vienna deal on July 14 putting an end to nuclear dispute, many groups– French traders being no exception — visited Iran for the purpose of economic cooperation.

‘We hope that exploring the potentials and the grounds for trade ties of markets of the two countries would serve to develop economic relations.’

On the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Middle East due to the conflicts among the governments and terrorists, Larijani called for national reconciliation in Yemen.

He said that the key to resolve the crisis in Yemen is formation of the national unity government.

He asserted that western governments should bear in mind that the fate of the nations should be decided through elections and by their own people and any assistance to the countries gripped with terrorists, should be in line with campaign against the terrorism.

Larcher said for his part that he was pleased with presence in Iran and the visit serves as a suitable opportunity for expansion of relations between Iran and France.

‘We hope that parliamentary relations will be upgraded in light of efforts of the committees and friendship groups of Iran and France.’

He said that the western governments should make efforts to restore security to such countries as Syria, Lebanon and Yemen that are busy fighting terrorism in line with national sovereignty rights of the nations.

He voiced displeasure with the help offered to Daesh by certain countries and said all countries should have serious and international determination to annihilate terrorist groups and it should not be supposed that presence of terrorism can have the least benefit for a country.

He hoped regional states and the anti-terrorism coalition must proceed in direct coordination with the governments of the countries in trouble.

Fighting terrorism requires international resolve  –  Larijani
