Damascus, (ST) -General Establishment for the Distribution of Electricity, recently signed an agreement with the Russian company “Edig York” to create a power transformer plant in Syria.
In a press statement after the signing of the agreement, Deputy Minister of Electricity, Eng. Nidal Qarmousheh, stated that the agreement provides for the establishment and financing of a factory for the production of Electrical transformers in Syria to secure the need of companies from these power transformers locally, pointing out that this agreement comes within the ministry’s plan to support the industry of these equipment of electrical grid system.
For his part, head of the Economic Attache of the Russian Embassy in Damascus Igor Matviev clarified that “the joint venture will be a symbol of cooperation and a successful attempt to raise the level of economic cooperation between the two countries”. He noted that “the plant will be in the Damascus Countryside and it will be implemented rapidly.
Signing of the agreement was attended by Minister of Electricity Imad Khamis and General Director of Adig York Company, Aslan Bunch, and Directors of institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Electricity.
