Syria Backs DPRK’s Just Call for Peaceful Settlement in Korean Peninsula

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Syria has reiterated its support for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s (DPRK) just call for attaining a peaceful settlement in the Korean Peninsula, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in statement on Wednesday.

The statement also renewed Syria’s support for DPRK’s call on the United States to sign a peace agreement that restores stability and security to the Korean peninsula, perpetuates confidence and ends the state of war between the two Koreas.

“Starting from its keenness on attaining peace and security in the Korean peninsula in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter, which calls on countries to preserve international peace and security, the Syrian Arab Republic renews its full support for Democratic Korea’s call for peaceful settlement in the Korean peninsula and to eliminate the ghost of war that threatens regional and international peace and security.

The ministry concluded the statement by stressing that Syria looks forward to the day when the Korean people achieve their aspirations in unifying the Korean homeland without any foreign interference in a way that goes in harmony with the aspirations of the Korean leadership and policy.
