Ahmadinejad : Iran Supports Syria to Restore Stability

TEHRAN, (ST) _ Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday expressed hope that the “plots” against Syria will come to an end “soon” and peace and security will be restored in the country.

During his meeting on Tuesday  with the Syrian Prime minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi, the Iranian President  added that with  no doubt, the Syrian people will come out of the current hard situation, noting  that the best solution to the Syrian crisis is to stop conflicts and to hold free elections.

Urging comprehensive ties with Syria, the Iranian president said that “The relations between two countries in different areas are  for the advantage of both nations and peoples .”

Iran and Syria should use their economic potentials for the benefit of their people, President  Ahmadinejad underscored.

The Prime Minister pointed to the difficulties faced by the Syrian  economy especially the  sectors of oil , gas, electric power and economic and  service  installations and the inflected damages resulted from  attacks by armed terrorist groups.
Issues and topics of bilateral cooperation that were discussed by delegations of the two countries were reviewed , particularly economic and financial cooperation, securing gas , fuel, oil and oil derivatives, and support of electric power system  as well as other areas of bilateral cooperation.

To this end , the  Iranian President called  for taking  all measures to secure the basic needs of the Syrian people so as to ensure  elements  of their steadfastness in the face of the hatched conspiracy.

Al-Halqi arrived in Iran’s capital Tehran on Tuesday to exchange views with Iranian officials on matters of mutual interest as well as regional and international issues.
