ISIL War: US Claim Has Never Stood Up to Basic Scrutiny

US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter has a lot of nerves to criticize Turkey for not using its air power against ISIL. As if the US has done anything of the kind!

The Pentagon chief is right to say “most of Turkish air operations are not directed at ISIL, they are directed at the PKK, and we would like to see them do more against ISIL.” .

The problem with Carter’s criticism is that Washington and its so-called international coalition have been rather shy in their efforts to try and eliminate ISIL bases. Just like Turkey, they have failed to show any significant performance in the war – both in the air and on the ground. So yes, we would also like to see them do more against ISIL.

It is an open secret that the War Party and its cronies, including Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia which are the primary recipients of the US trade in weapons, have been backing various terrorist groups fighting against the legal Syrian government, including some of those involved in the massacre of Paris on November 13. At the same time, they have been doing everything to challenge the military campaign of Russia, Iran, Syria and Lebanon’s Hezbollah against all manners of terrorism and extremism in Syria, including ISIL, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012.

And we haven’t even started talking about the fact that Iraq doesn’t need US Special Forces at all. As insisted repeatedly by Prime Minister HayderAbadi, Baghdad welcomes “real” air support against ISIL, but does not need any foreign ground troops and escalation. In his words, some 75 percent of US warplanes return to their bases without firing any weapons against ISIL targets.
