Shaaban: The World began to change its stance towards events in Syria

DAMASCUS – Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban affirmed that the whole world began to change its view on what is going on in Syria, saying that the western style which adopts hegemony to impose its will on the peoples is in a state of retreat.

“China, Russia, India, South Africa, BRICS countries, Iran, Syria and Hezbollah became an existing power that presents a style which is very different from the western style characterized by hegemony, colonial vision, lack of respect for others and hypocrisy,” Shaaban said in an interview with the Iranian Tasnim News Agency on Tuesday, SANA reported.

She added that enhancing the cooperation among Syria, Iran, Russia and Iraq and coordinating efforts in the framework of fighting terrorism and restoring security and stability in our countries is a matter of great importance.

Shaaban pointed out that Russia is not the only country that stands by Syria, referring to china, “which is a rising power and Iran which succeeded in signing the nuclear deal,” asserting that the support provided by Iran along with Hezbollah to Syria is an important factor in the steadfastness of the Syrian people and army.

She considered the Turkish behavior after downing the Russian warplane over the Syrian territories as a heinous mistake against Russia which proved to Turkey that it is a country that couldn’t be underestimated.

On the dialogue with the opposition, Shaaban clarified that until now the opposition isn’t unified and it is not ready to hold dialogue with the Syrian government because most of the opposition sides belong to different countries, “the majority of them are hostile to Syria.”

Concerning the visit of Iran’s Supreme Leader’s Senior Advisor Ali Akbar Velayati to Syria on Sunday, Shaaban stated that the Iranian officials’ visits to Syria assert the depth of the friendship, alliance and confidence between the two countries.
