OCCUPIED PALESTINE, (ST)_ Bishop Atallah Hanna, Archbishop of Sebastia for the Greek-Orthodox Church said that the recent Speech of President Bashar al-Assad in which he proposed the political program to resolve the crisis in Syria is historical and a road map leading to a Syria of peace, security and democracy.
“President Assad wanted to save his country and people from plots and conspiracies aimed at sabotaging the Syrian state and dismantling it in the service of the colonial powers in our region, especially Israel.” Hanna added in an interview with the Syrian TV on Sunday evening.
He called on all Syrians who believe in dialogue to renounce violence and to engage in a national dialogue under the ceiling of the homeland in order to keep Syria united for all for its citizens of different affiliations, stressing that bet is on the wisdom and unity of the Syrian people in confronting terrorism, targeting their country.
Hanna also called on armed militiamen to drop their arms and return to the homeland to build renewable Syria because democracy and freedom can not be attained by weapons , affirming that the Syrian people are alone , the ones who will make true democracy under the leadership of President al-Assad and in cooperation with all sincere Syrians .
He continued that by defending their homeland, the means they are defending occupied Palestine because Syria’s steadfastness and united is but in an Arab and Palestinian supreme interest .
He regretted that certain Arab oil-rich countries are conspiring against Syria by funding militants and sending terrorists , instead of exploiting these resources in developing the Arab nation, and support of Palestine.
“It is shameful that these countries endow money to sabotage Syria , while giving nothing to the Palestinians cause and people.”
He directed the attention of true intellectuals that what is taking place in Syria has nothing to do with democracy and freedom, but a malicious colonial plan, stressing that the satellite channels, partners in shedding the blood of the Syrians still play an inflammatory role to wreak havoc Syria by publicizing persons who take hostile attitudes towards Syria and divert the attention from intellectuals, writers and activists, who defend Syria’s people and army.
