Iraqi Forces Kill 94 Daesh Militants in Military Operations

Nearly 100 terrorists with the Takfiri Daesh terror group have been killed during separate military operations by Iraqi armed forces and allied Popular Mobilization units in different parts of Iraq.

A total of 54 Daesh terrorists were killed after Iraqi fighter jets launched aerial attacks against terrorist positions in the Makhoul Mountains, which lie 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) north of the provincial capital city of Tikrit, in the northern province of Salahuddin.

A launching pad used by Daesh extremists to lob mortar rounds at the area was also destroyed during the operation, Arabic-language al-Forat news agency reported.

A military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, also said Iraqi security forces mounted separate ground operations north of Anbar’s provincial capital city of Ramadi, killing at least 40 Daesh Takfiris.

Five explosive-laden vehicles, which Daesh members had planned to use against Iraqi army troopers in Albu Dhiyab and Albu Faraj areas, were also destroyed during the offensives.

Separately, fighters from pro-government Popular Mobilization units managed to seize control of Qaryat al-Atiq and Qaryat al-Rawabin villages, which lie on the western foothills of the Hamrin Mountains in the oil-rich northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk, from Daesh terrorists on Wednesday.

There has been no report on the fatalities among Iraqi government forces or allied fighters from Popular Mobilization units.

The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by gruesome violence ever since Daesh terrorists began their campaign of terror in the country in June 2014.
