IAEA: Iran Starts Dismantling Centrifuges, Shows No Deviation in Nuclear Program

 

Vienna – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported on Wednesday that Iran has started dismantling its centrifuges in Fordow and Natanz sites and has had no deviation in its peaceful nuclear program, IRNA reported.

The announcement was made by IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano in his quarterly report to the meeting of the agency’s Board of Governors.

Iran has started removing centrifuges and related infrastructure at the Natanz and Fordow enrichment facilities, the report said.

The dismantling is taking place based on a landmark agreement reached on July 14 between Iran and the world six major powers (US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany) putting an end to a decade-long nuclear dispute between the two sides.

 

According to the agreement, better known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), limits will be put on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all nuclear-related economic and financial sanctions against the country.
