SIIB Receives “ISO” Certificate

Damascus, (ST) – Syria International Islamic Bank in cooperation with the Central Bank of Syria yesterday held (SIIB) a ceremony on the occasion of receiving the International Standard “ISO” 2008-9001, at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria Dr. Adib Mayala confirmed  in a speech during the ceremony the resilience and robustness of the banking sector in Syria and its ability to meet the challenges and determination to continue despite the critical conditions experienced by the country, pointing out that giving the ISO certificate to the Syria International Islamic Bank is an obvious sign to his ability to adapt with the current conditions and the desire to develop and improve its performance on an ongoing basis and to provide banking services with high quality.

Mr. Mayala clarified that the Central Bank of Syria is exerting every effort to return the wheel of development the wheel through strengthening the role of the banking sector in the economic recovery and provide the necessary funding process and to overcome the obstacles that hinder the work mechanism.

For his part, Chairman of Syria International Islamic Bank Dr. Aziz Saqr explained that the bank has sought to apply the quality management system because it contributes to a better service, noting that the bank was able to confront the great challenges suffered during the crisis and proved itself in the Syrian banking market through outstanding financial results and growth rates in most of the key indicators that make it occupies a leading position among private banks.

For his part, Chief Executive Officer Abdul Qader Dweik pointed to the remarkable progress achieved by the Bank during its career, which has started since 2007 through its 26 branches and offices scattered in various areas of Syria, adding that the bank’s capital reached about 5.8 billion Syrian pounds reflecting the strength of its financial position and successful strategy.

The representative of the Syrian International Company for Control “SGS”, the donating body to ISO, Imad Kayal said: The accuracy team and through its dealings with the Syria International Islamic Bank found that the quality management in the bank is highly true to the requirements of the standard “9001” system.
