RAMALLAH, (ST) – Israeli forces shot and injured 13 Palestinians using live rounds, and seriously injured another Palestinian, during clashes erupted today in the Qalandia refugee camp south of the central West Bank city of Ramallah, according to the Palestinian news agency (WAFA).
The agency quoted a source at the Health Ministry as saying the injured Palestinians were admitted into the Palestinian Medical Complex in Ramallah for immediate medical treatment.
It added that the majority of Palestinians were shot in their lower extremities during clashes and described their condition as moderate.
Clashes erupted when Israeli forces raided Qalandia refugee camp. They broke and wrecked havoc into several houses after blasting the main doors.
Administrative detention orders without trial
Also on Wednesday, Israeli army and police forces detained 15 Palestinians, including three minors, from across the West Bank districts and summoned others for interrogation, according to security sources.
The arrest of the 15 Palestinians coincided with issuance of administrative detention orders- without charge or trial- against 43 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
Israel routinely uses administrative detention against Palestinians. Statistics show that over the years, thousands of Palestinians have been held in Israeli custody as administrative detainees for extended periods of time.
In April 2015, the United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) expressed concern by the continued and increasing use of administrative detention by Israeli authorities against Palestinians.
