Boroujerdi underlines importance of political program to resolve crisis in Syria

TEHRAN, (ST) – Chairman for the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, confirmed that the situation in Syria passed the stage of political crisis and that the program put forward by President Bashar al-Assad would end the crisis because there are countries except Iran, like Russia and China support this program as well.

In statements yesterday, Boroujerdi affirmed the need to resolve the crisis in Syria from inside Syria, stressing the importance of initiating a dialogue between the government and the opposition to find a solution to the crisis.

On the other hand, Boroujerdi noted the role played by the government and the Syrian leadership in the release of Iranian pilgrims who were kidnapped earlier in Syria.

For his part, Secretary of the Iranian Guardian Council, Ahmad Jannati, warned that the Zionist entity and the West are planning to stir up sedition in Syria and Iraq.

In his Friday sermon, Jannati said that foreign enemies plotted to ignite wars and strife in Syria and they raise sedition in Iraq. He called on the Iraqi people to be careful.
