Al-Moallem meets Chinese Foreign Ministry official Deng Li

DAMASCUS – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem said the Russian and Iranian efforts provide serious contribution to the fight against terrorism and to enabling the political solution to succeed.

He was speaking during a meeting on Tuesday with the Director General of West Asian and North African Affairs Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Deng Li, who conveyed to al-Moallem the Chinese Foreign Minister’s greetings and interest in the developments in Syria and the region, SANA reported.

 Deng also conveyed his country’s Foreign Minister’s wishes for Syria to get out of its crisis as soon as possible, stressing the importance of the international efforts in contributing to fighting terrorism and finding a political solution in Syria.

Al-Moallem expressed Syria’s interest in boosting relations with China in the various fields and its appreciation of its friendly countries’ position in support of Damascus against terrorism.

Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad also met with the Chinese official and the delegation accompanying him, where a deep exchange of views took place on the Syrian-Chinese cultural and economic relations.

China’s role in alleviating the humanitarian repercussions of the crisis in Syria was highlighted during the meeting.
