Ex-Czech PM: So-called “Moderate Opposition” in Syria Has No Actual Existence

PRAGGUUE, (ST)- The so-called “moderate opposition” in Syria has no actual existence,” former Czech Prime Minister Jiri Paroubek has stressed, pointing out that the airstrikes launched by the US-led anti-ISIL coalition haven’t achieved any tangible results on ground.

In a commentary published by a Czech website on Saturday, Paroubek said “those who were trained by the United States on the basis of being from the [moderate opposition] have joined the terrorist organizations along with their US weapon.”

The former Czech premier reiterate that in order to pave the way for solving the crisis in Syria, ” the United States should ask its affiliated regimes in Saudi Arabia and Turkey to correct their policies toward Syria through halting their support for terrorists, and then find a political settlement between the Syrian government and opposition.”

“The poor results achieved by the anti-terror international coalition indicate that the coalition doesn’t have good or enough intelligence information, besides, it has no political force with military strength on ground to depend on,” Paroubek said.

On the other hand, Paroubek added, “the accurate hits achieved by the Russian airstrikes against terrorist organizations affirm that Russia has precise information about the terrorists and their camps based on data provided by the Syrian army and on coordination between the Russian air force and the Syrian land forces.”

He pointed out that Iraqi officials are talking about the possibility of establishing a strong military political axis that depends on Russia in order to change the equations of power in the Middle East.

He asserted that the ongoing events indicate that the world is no longer governed by a one-polar system but by a multi-polar one.
