Delegations from 39 countries participate in International Conference for Youths in Damascus

More than 200 students and journalists have come from 39 Arab and foreign countries to Syria in order to take part in the International Conference for Youths kicked off on Sunday at the Khan Asaad Basha in Damascus under the title a ‘step for Syria’.

Some of the participants came from countries that support terrorist organizations in Syria in order to say that the people of those countries are against the policies of their government.

Aliyev Ilham Oglu and Jan Jakier from the Youths Union of Turkey told the official news agency (SANA) that the goal of their participation in the conference is to deliver a message that the Turkish government supports terrorists in Syria in contrast with the Turkish people, who stand by Syria.

The agency also quoted the French writer Frederic Pichon, who is taking parts in the four-day conference, as saying: “The west is enable to learn from its mistakes, especially after its stances that support terrorism in Syria.”

“The west lost its credibility over the past years,” he added.

Syria will remain example of co-existence and peace: Mufti

The destructive role of some media outlets that deceive the public opinion about what is going on in Syria was discussed during the first session of the conference held today in Yaafour resort in Damascus.

The speakers underline the need for confronting some western media outlets’ attempts of damage the Syrian identity, culture and unity.

Syria’ Grand Mufti Dr. Ahmad Badereddin Hasson asserted that Syria will remain an example of co-existence, peace and love whatever its enemies have tried to kill peace in the heart of its people because they are peace makers in the region and the word as well.

He pointed out that some media outlets have forged the ongoing events in Syria in order to serve the colonialist agenda that seeks to destroy Syria and to ignite wars in the region for justifying the establishment of the Jewish state alongside other ones based on religious grounds.

On his part, Head of the ‘Khatwa’ Society, which organized the event, Raymond Hilal said in the opening ceremony that the conference aims to inform participating delegations about the truth of the situation in Syria.

President al-Assad doing his utmost to preserve Syria’s unity: Molyathi

The opening ceremony included a speech delivered by Rebecca Molyathi on behalf of the participating delegation.

She said: “We know that people in Syria don’t want this war, and we know that there are economic, political and strategic interests behind it… We know that the terrorist organizations, which are killing the Syrians are mercenaries and robbers who bring only hatred and destruction…We also know the truth that President Bashar al-Assad is doing his utmost to preserve the unity of his country.”

Media disinformation

During the second day sessions, the participants reviewed “The role of Media in fighting terrorist mentality” and the ‘Media disinformation in the Arab region’.

Member of the politburo in the Lebanese Marada  Movement Vera Yamin underlined the need for drawing up active mechanisms to fight the Takfiri mentality and setting up TV Channels to liberate the Arab mentality from the destructive ideas that aim to fragment society.

He referred to the role of youths and University students in explaining the truth via social media to make shift in the world public opinion.
