US, Western Countries Responsible for Syria Tragic Events – Indian Diplomat

NEW DELHI, (ST)-Former Under Secretary of the Indian Foreign ministry Kanwal Sibal has blamed the United States and the western countries for destruction in Syria and for the displacement of the Syrians, pointing out that the main goal of these countries is to sew sedition and feed extremism and instability in Syria as they did before in Iraq and Libya.

Interviewed by an Indian Channel on Saturday, Sibal stressed that the U.S. and the western countries are adopting a systematic policy for “regime” change in Syria in particular and in the Middle East and North Africa in general through waging wars and supporting terrorist organizations’ activities in these regions.

The Indian diplomat asserted that “from the very beginning, the policy of the western countries has aimed to change the legitimate government in Syria, because the stay of this government doesn’t serve their interests. They sent terrorists with their weapons and munitions to Syria under the world’s complete silence, but when Russia provides assistance to the legitimate Syrian government in accordance with the International law, the West expresses worry.

He reiterated that Russia should play a key role in solving the crisis in Syria.

Sibal pointed out that the western countries are violating international laws through launching airstrikes inside Syria without coordination with the Syrian government, while Russia is behaving with complete responsibility towards the situation in Syria and the Middle East.

He affirmed the need to hold dialogue among the world’s major powers as to end the crisis in Syria and called for cooperation with Russia and China in this respect.
