Neo-colonialist mentality

The ISIS crimes against Syrian people are committed by groups that the West likes to dub as moderate. The double standards of states involved in the international alliance against ISIS such as Australia, Britain, and France are the main obstacle hindering fighting terrorism. The West’s double standards regarding Syria have been crystal clear; the West acknowledges the legitimacy of the Syrian government when that serves the West’s interests, such as when the chemical weapons issue emerged and when it was resolved after Syria joined the Chemical Weapons Convention, the West doesn’t acknowledge the Syrian government’s legitimacy as the chemical weapons issue isn’t considered a threat anymore.

The war on terrorism will become more effective when it is coordinated, unbiased, doesn’t employ double standards, and arranges priorities properly. All Western states are aware that ISIS is the real threat in the Middle East and the whole world, but this needs to be translated into practical action on the ground.  The war on ISIS will be long and difficult, but the situation in the region will not deescalate without resolving this threat. Britain is pursuing an illogical and irrational policy by attacking the only country which is confronting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria organization, known as ISIS. What gives the British foreign secretary the right to decide for Syrians how long their president should stay in power?” This behavior reflects a mentality that goes back to colonial times. If they are really against terrorism let them act accordingly and genuinely confront ISIS. The way to do that is by not ignoring those who are really fighting ISIS.

The most effective military force on the ground in Syria is the Syrian Arab Army, and the talk of not involving it in the war on ISIS is nonsense. Any real war on terrorism must be conducted in coordination with the states involved in this issue, i.e. the Syrian and Iraqi governments. The war on terrorism in Syria which is being carried out without coordination with Syrian government is a mere delusion, covers up for true failure, and constitutes misdirection of the public.

It is very important that these states respect the sovereignty and independence of the country involved in such a thing.  France and Britain, as permanent members of the Security Council, should be the first to respect the UN charter.

Fighting terrorism cannot be done by sides that protect terrorism or done in partnership with such sides. How France, the U.S., and Britain can convince us that they are fighting terrorism alongside states like Qatar and Saudi Arabia which openly declare their support for terrorists and armed groups in Syria. All previous steps taken in this regard are hypocrisy and failed policies.

The British and French interference in Syrian affairs is motivated by their yearning to the days of colonialism. These states still believe that they rule the world and that the areas where they once had influence are still under their influence. The British government has never been objective about the events nor did it evaluate them, and its statements remain unchanged since 2011.This behavior constitutes direct encouragement for terrorism. That will lead to internal mobilization within Britain and outside it that motivates all the terrorists who hate Syria to head to it. The mobilization carried out by governments supporting terrorist groups is responsible for the escalation inside and outside Syria, and makes talk of fighting terrorism a brand of hypocrisy and removed from reality.
