Syrian, Russian Oil Talks

Damascus, (ST) – Prime Minister Dr. Wael al Halaqi and Deputy Director of the Russian Story Trans Gas Company and Director of Foreign Projects in the company, Igor Kazk, discussed yesterday the reality of the implementation of the gas project in the north central region and the possibility of cooperation between the two sides in conducting oil projects, the rehabilitation of some oil wells, opportunities for exploration of oil and gas in Syrian territory.

Dr. al Halaqi stressed that the political, economic, strategicand deeply-rootedrelations between the two countries require moving to wider spaces in the bilateral action through the establishment of joint investment and development projects.

He reiterated the Syrian government welcome to Russian companies to contribute to the construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of some sectors.

For his part, Mr. Kazk expressed the Russian oil companies’desire to contribute to the development of the oil sector in Syria, particularly the Story Trans Gas Company has a large Russian oil projects in Syria and seeks to strengthen its presence in the dynamic new oil projects.

In the same context, the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources,Suleiman Al-Abbas,met Mr. Kazk and stressed the importance of the company and its important achievements with the Syrian companies despite the current circumstances in the country, pointing to the need to continue the joint cooperation and the large role of Russian companies in the available investment opportunities in the future in the field of exploration and the establishment of joint ventures.

Mr. Kazkexpressed the desire of Stroy Trans Gas Company to continue to operate in Syria and help in overcoming the obstacles to the completion of the current projects and participate in the reconstruction.

He expressed confidence of creating numerous and diverse cooperation opportunities, especially the company hasa desire to participate in rehabilitation in the oil and gas sectorin cooperation with Syrian companies to complete giant projects that support the Syrian economy.
