DAMASCUS,(ST)_Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem and the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossien Amir Abdollahian have discussed the Iranian ideas to resolve the crisis in Syria and counter terrorism.
According to the official news agency (SANA), al- Moallem stressed that the strong determination of the Syrian people and leadership will remain the guarantor of steadfastness and achieving victory over the Takfiri terrorism that targets civilization and humanity.
“Syria highly appreciates Iran’s support for Syria in its battle,” al- Moallem said during today’s meeting with Abdollahian in Damascus.
On his part, the Iranian official reiterated his country’s support for Syria in its war against terrorism to reach a solution to the crisis based on the Syrian people’s aspirations.
Fars News Agency (FNA) quoted Abdollahian as saying during a meeting held today with Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil in Beirut that President Bashar Al-Assad is part of the solution to the crisis in the Arab country.
“Political solution is the only way to put an end to the Syrian crisis and president Bashar Assad is part of that solution,” Abdollahian said.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister, meantime, pointed to his negotiations with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, and said that during his meeting with de Mistura he has underlined that the Syrian president should be part of a political solution to the crisis in the Arab country.
Abdollahian pointed to the regional crises, and said, “These incidents are against the interests of all regional countries.”
The Iranian deputy foreign minister underlined that Iran’s strategy is based on the spread of peace and stability in the region, and expressed the hope that Iran’s efforts for distancing countries from war would bear fruit.
Abdollahian also met Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah in Beirut over latest developments, according to the al-Manar TV channel.
