Syria, Algeria to Promote Economic Cooperation

Damascus, (ST)- Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Dr. Hammam al –Jazaeri discussed with Algerian Ambassador to Damascus Saleh Bosheh ways to deepen and develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields especially trade and economic investment and ways to open new markets for Syrian exports.

The Minister, during the meeting, underlined the importance of coordination between the two sides to ensure their needs of goods and materials and to take measures to facilitate the flow of goods and investment flows between the two countries in light of the comparative advantages enjoyed by the trade and investment activity with both of them.

 

He stressed the need to arrange a joint meeting with the owners of Syrian companies operating in Algeria in the presence of the ambassador to discuss the development of work between the two sides and deal with the difficulties facing the promotion of mutual cooperation between them and make the necessary arrangements to reshape the Joint Syrian- Algerian Business Council in accordance with the objective foundations of the appropriate mechanisms.

Mr. Bosheh explained that “the Algerian commercial register classified Syria in the second place in terms of the volume of foreign business in Algeria with the presence of more than 1,300 business and investment to the Syrians.

The two sides agreed to follow up on all the points that have been talked about between them to put it into practical application, particularly with respect to the subject of following-up appropriate mechanisms to simplify the procedures for the movement of businessmen between the two sides due to its positive impact on the development and expansion of intra-regional trade movement.
