Tehran, (ST)- Health Minister Dr. Nizar Yazigi discussed with the Head of the Syrian-Iranian Economic Commission Rostom Qasemi, in the presence of Syria’s Ambassador in Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, ways of optimizing the Iranian credit line to secure medical supplies in Syria.
Dr. Yazigi pointed to the needs of the medical sector in Syria including equipment and drugs.
For his part, Mr. Qasemi stressed that he is working with the Iranian authorities concerned to secure what is necessary to the health sector in Syria.
Dr. Yazigi also discussed with Iranian Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Mohammad Baqer Larijani, some issues regarding the medical field and to increase scholarships in medical specialties for Syrian students to supply the medical sector with the necessary scientific terms of reference and the establishment of training courses and rehabilitation of medical staff.
The minister and his accompanying delegation visited “Ruian” Center for Scientific Research and briefed closely on the medical achievements of the center and how to use them in the field of health sector in Syria and the rehabilitation of cadres in the field of bio-laboratories.
The Minister of Health discussed earlier in the day with his Iranian counterpart Sayed Hassan Hashemi ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the medical and health sector and to provide mechanisms ofsupport for this sector in Syria.
