PRETORIA,(ST)_South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Nomaindia Mfeketo has stressed her country’s support for Syria in fighting terrorism.
She said that South Africa government condemns terrorism and rejects foreign intervention in Syria’s internal affairs, asserting the necessity to stop supporting terrorist organizations that target security and peace in the region and in the world.
Mfeketo, in addition, expressed admiration for the steadfastness of Syrian people and leadership in confronting terrorist attacks.
“South Africa is ready to support the Syrian government in reconstruction process and re-running the institutes damaged by terror attacks,” she added.
Her remarks came during a meeting today with the Syrian Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Faisal al-Miqdad, who talked about the terror attacks that has hit Syria over the past five years.
Al-Miqdad clarified that the terror attacks target Syria’s steadfastness and its constructive role in supporting peoples’ just causes, particularly the Palestinian cause.
He highly appreciated South Africa’s support for Syria in fighting terrorism.
According to the official news agency (SANA), al-Miqdad and Mfeketo agreed on developing bilateral relations between Syria and South Africa in political and economic fields and in fighting terrorism.
The agency indicated that al-Miqdad met last night Head of Foreign Relations Bureau in the Ruling National Conference Party in South Africa Abid Babbila.
The talks dealt with the importance of enhancing relations between South Africa’s ruling party and the Baath Arab Socialist Party for the interest of the two countries.
