Al-Halqi to Australian Delegation: The Syrians are More Adherent to Terrorism Fighting, National Reconciliation

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi has told a guest Australian delegation, comprising activists, journalists and athletes, that the Syrians along with their leadership and army are more steadfast and determined to fight terrorism and more adherent to  achieve national reconciliation. He also stressed that there is no true will by Syria’s neighboring countries to support a regional-International coalition to fight terrorism.

Al-Halqi talked about the damage caused to the infrastructure in Syria because of the attacks of the terrorist organizations on water and transport networks, on hospitals and on oil and power stations. He stressed that the terrorist aggression on Syria was accompanied by a misleading media war.

He urged members of the delegation to convey the real image of what is going on in Syria to the Australian people, asserting that “Syria always supports international initiatives aiming to attain political solution without foreign interference or dictates and it will keep being an example of religious fraternity and national unity and seeking friendship and cooperation with all peace-loving peoples of the world.

He affirmed the role men of religion can play to confront the Wahhabi takfiri mentality and stressed the role of sport in building amity and communication among peoples of the world and in enhancing international relations away from wars and conflicts.

Head of the delegation, Father David Smith, said “no power in the world can defeat people who have such a national spirit and solid will like that of the Syrian people”.

He pointed out that during the delegation’s visits to several Syrian provinces they felt the strength and steadfastness of the Syrian state with all its government, civil and sport institutions.
