Sweida Almond Production Estimated at 1493 Tons

Sweida, (ST) – Agriculture Directorate in Sweida initially estimated the production of the Governorate of almond crop for the current season by about 1493 tons .

According to Director of Agriculture Eng. Bassam Jermaghani said in a statement to local press that the total area cultivated with almonds for the current season stood at 2077 hectares and the total number of trees in which is 606 thousand, whereas the most trees are concentrated mostly in the low plains areas.

 

He pointed out that the almond tree of appropriate trees for environmental conditions and maintains drought and can be grown in rugged areas.

The total production of almond crop in Sweida last season was  694 tons and the cultivated areas were 1997 hectares.
