Syria Backs DPRK’s Efforts to Eliminate Obstacles Hindering Unification of Korean Nation

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has stressed that the Syrian Arab Republic, leadership and people, supports the statement issued by the government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on June 15th, 2015 which affirms the country’s efforts, under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un, to eliminate all restrictions and obstacles hindering the unification of the great Korean nation including attempts of foreign interference which prevent unity between the two Koreas.

Marking the 15th anniversary of the North–South Joint Declaration adopted between leaders of North and South Korea in June 2000, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that the anniversary is a historical moment in which practical steps can be made to end the state of tension, end the danger of war and provide a peaceful situation in the Korean peninsula in order to launch dialogue that contributes to improving relations between North and South Koreas and to unifying the Korean nation in a strong prosperous state.

The ministry added that the Syrian leadership agrees with the deep vision of the leadership and people of Democratic Korea in terms of unifying the Korean nation, stressing that this vision is based on historical facts and on the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries to live in a unified state that contributes to enriching human civilization.
