In the cable he sent, Religious Endowments Minister Mohammad Abdelsattar al-Sayyed said that historically, Ramadan always was a time of change in which victories were achieved over the enemies of Islam, hoping that this Ramadan would mark victory over extremists, terrorists, and those who conspire against Syria.

In turn, Justice Minister Najm al-Ahmad hoped that this Ramadan will be a time of peace, security, and tranquility, and for the world to be free of terrorism.

For his part, Grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun said that the advent or Ramadan brings with it hope of better days in which Syria would be free of those who seek to destroy the country and kill its people.

In a similar cable, First Sharia Judge of Damascus Mahmoud al-Maarawi prayed for Ramadan to herald prosperity, blessings, and victory for Syria and the Arab and Islamic nations.
