International Community Should Not Remain Idle About Nuclear Talks, Says Zarif
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Saturday that international community should not be just an observer in talks between Iran and Group 5+1 and it is necessary to play effective role to bolster international peace and understanding, according to IRNA.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar .
Referring to excellent relations between Iran and India, Zarif said that there are plenty of grounds for economic cooperation, citing energy.
He said that Iran’s door is open for India for economic cooperation.
Jaishankar said that Iranian relations are important for India, adding that India is hopeful that the nuclear talks would bear fruits so that the two countries would go ahead with planning for wider cooperation.
He said that India priorities for cooperation with Iran is in the fields of trade, energy and transport and India seriously intends to expand cooperation with Iran.
The Indian senior diplomat said that India is willing to make investment for development of Chabahar Port, adding that India intends to cooperate with Iranian side in the fields of electricity, petrochemical industry and railway.
Iran, EU wrap up extended round of marathon nuclear talks
Iranian deputy foreign minister and EU deputy foreign policy chief concluded the fourth session of negotiations on a nuclear agreement which lasted for seven hours on Saturday.
Initially slated to conclude on Friday, the talks were chaired by Iran negotiators Abbass Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi and EU representative Helga Schmid.
Meanwhile, expert-level teams under leadership of Hamid Baeedinejad and Stephan Clement discussed technical aspects of the deal.
Araqchi and Ravanchi arrived in Vienna on Wednesday to complete the comprehensive agreement text in the seventh round of talks.
In this round, the senior negotiators held bilateral meetings with their counterparts from member countries of P5+1 of world powers.
The talks are scheduled to end on July 1, but Iran says that it is not obliged to time limits and that negotiations must proceed to reach a good agreement.
