First Investment Conference and Participatory

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Activities of the First Investment Conference and Participatory for the Reconstruction of Syria were started here yesterday. The event was organized by Business Women’s Committee in the Damascus and Damascus Countryside Chambers of Industry and Syrian Society for Research and Studies, at al -Sham Hotel in Damascus with the participation of businesspersons and businessmen from Syria and friendly countries.

The two- day conference aims to attract capitals , resettle them and offer competitive advantages provided by the participating states, cooperation with the expertise and global financing through international cooperation with the BRICS states, Iran and other friendly countries in accordance the agreements to be signed between the participating parties in the conference for the reconstruction of Syria.

Industry Minister Kamal Eddin Tomah said that the current situation in the country did not prevent the government from working on securing the resilience of the national economy requirements through a rational balance economic policy between the possibilities and priorities and plans for policies to bridge the gap between resources and expenditure and the import and export between production and disposal, wages and prices, with an emphasis on the importance of rehabilitation of public and private industrial sectors.

The Minister referred to the government’s efforts to mobilize all national capabilities in the public and private sectors and the work in this regard through a major economic changes through the modernization of the legislative environment and removing obstacles to domestic and foreign investment, stimulate the private sector, pointing out that direct investment and joint ventures are one of the important aspects of economic and social policy.

He stressed the government’s faith to develop the private sector by creating a legislative environment that encourages investment and improve the climate in parallel with the follow-up to economic and administrative reform and the issuance of the necessary legislation as well as the development of these laws and the issuance of participatory law and providing all the necessary supplies for the industrial action.

For his part, Head of the Board of the Damascus Chamber of Industry Samer al -Debsssaid that the conference is an opportunity to invite the owners of capitals from expatriates and friendly countries to participate in the reconstruction of Syria, pointing out that despite the crisis and its repercussions, there are investment opportunities in various fields, especially in the domain of industry.

Chairperson of the Businesswomen Committee in the Damascus Chamber of Industry Marwa al -Eitouni that noted the goal of the conference which is seeking to attract capital and cooperation with businessmen, Syrian investors and expatriates, friendly countries, providing funding for industrial projects, achieving a sort of networking projects between the owners of projects based on well -studied economic grounds with the owners of the investment interests seeking investment opportunities with serious economic substance of the return.

For his part, head of the Syrian Club of the Association of Syrian Expatriates in Poland Dr. Nabil al -Malazi stressed that “the time has come to take advantage of the expertise, capabilities and energies of the Syrians who live abroad and their relations in the various fields, especially economic to be employed in the field of reconstruction of Syria.”

The former Belgian deputy in the European Parliament Frank Krlman pointed to the need to work in collaboration with many of the actors in the region and Europe to form a pressure group and the establishment of a media center in Europe in order to clarify the fact of that the events in Syria and the region.

The Deputy Chairman of the Turkish National Party Younis Soner condemned the economic sanctions imposed on Syria, “which is a kind of terrorism” and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Syrian government and the Syrian people to remove these sanctions and open a new horizon for cooperation in various economic and private areas for the benefit of the Syrian and Turkish peoples.

The opening of the two-day conference was attended by the Minister of State for Investment Affairs Jamal Shaheen, a number of Deputies of Ministers, heads of unions and organizations, a crowd of businessmen and investors from Syria and friendly countries and representatives of the public bodies concerned with investment.
