Syrian-Iranian Economic Talks

TEHRAN, (ST)- Secretary General of the Presidency of the Cabinet Taysir al –Zou’bi discussed here with the Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance Ali Tayyip Nia ways to strengthen economic and trade cooperation and the creation of new operation mechanisms for the implementation of economic, commercial and technical agreements between the two countries and to overcome obstacles of  implementation.

Talks also dealt with the subject of Iran’s new credit line and the mechanisms of implementation to meet the needs and priorities of the Syrian side of fuel, food, medicine, materials and financing certain projects needed by the Syrian side.

The two sides discussed the cooperation agreement in the field of maritime transport between the ports of Lattakia, Tartous and Iranian ports to facilitate the flow of Iranian goods to Syria.

Mr. al -Zou’bi confirmed the importance of the economic dimension in supporting the steadfastness of the Syrian people, stressing the need to work strenuously in the various fields and economic sectors in order to make the best use of available resources away from the bureaucracy and red tape to the benefit of the two peoples and two countries.

He also noted the support provided by the government and people of Iran.

The two sides held various meetings between technical and specialized committees and discussed all frameworks and mechanisms that can effectively contribute to enhancing the Syrian economy and the removal of all obstacles to the process of cooperation between the two sides in the various fields.
