Iran’s Rouhani: Syrian People, Army’s Steadfastness Foiled anti-Syria Schemes

TEHRAN-President Hassan Rouhani of Iran has reiterated that the people and government of Iran will keep supporting Syria in confrontation of the terrorist war until terrorism is completely eliminated.

During his meeting on Tuesday with Speaker of the People’s Assembly (PA) Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham, Rouhani said Iran and Syria have mutual will to boost cooperation, pointing out that the strategic relations established between the two countries are growing at high pace.

He added “those who imposed the war on Syria expected that they will achieve their goals only within month, but now after four years of Syrian steadfastness and resistance, plotters of the scheme have been frustrated.”

He stressed that Syria will emerge victorious, because conspirators couldn’t impose their dictates on the Syrian people.

Al-Lahham, on his part, reiterated that Syria will press ahead with the battle against terrorism and takfiri mentality until all the Syrian lands are rid of terrorism.

He said that the support provided to terrorists by regional, western and neighboring countries to kill civilians and destroy the country’s civilization and infrastructure serves first of all the Zionist-American scheme in the region.

The PA Speaker urged implementing the Security Council resolutions relating to fighting terrorism and called for adopting national, regional and international measures to effectively confront the threats of the terrorist organizations through stopping the funding of terrorist acts.

“Syria will emerge strong from the crisis thanks to the sacrifices of the Syrian Army, the steadfastness of the Syrian people and the support of Syria’s friends,” al-Lahham stressed.

“We won’t allow the enemies to implement their schemes despite the huge aggression by western and regional countries and their mercenaries who were recruited, funded, trained, armed and sent to Syria to destroy the country and kill its people,” he said.

He pointed out that signing the nuclear agreement between Iran and the G5+1 can play an important role in enhancing security and stability in the region.
