Cuba’s Ventura: Syrians Fighting Terrorism in Defense of Entire World

HVANA, (ST)-The First Vice-President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers in Cuba Jose Ramon Machado Ventura has stressed that the sacrifices offered by the steadfast Syrian people in their battle against terrorism aim not only to defend Syria but the entire world and that both Syria’s enemies and friends should admit the courage of President Bashar al-Assad.

 Ventura, who was speaking during a meeting with the Assistant regional Secretary of the Baath Arab Socialist (Party BASP) Hilal al-Hilal in Havana, asserted that the strong cohesion between the Syrian people army and leadership is the secret of every success achieved by the army in the ongoing battle against terrorism in Syria.

He pointed out that Cuba, like Syria, has experienced siege, economic sanctions and imperialist conspiracies, so it is natural for the Cubans to sympathize with the Syrian people who are struggling for their dignity and freedom.

On his part, al-Hilal said the Syrian people are determined to press ahead with fighting terrorism and defending Syria’s sovereignty and independence.

He pointed out that the war waged on Syria by the United States and its allies, agents and terrorist tools has failed to achieve its goals despite the savage crimes committed in different parts of Syria and despite the unjust economic sanctions imposed on the Syrians.

 “The war failed thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian people and army,” al-Hilala said, noting that the steadfast Cuban people also have foiled the US aggressive acts for more than 50 years and have been able to achieve victory.

Syria will inevitably triumph over terrorism and its supporters

In the same context, Al-Hilal also held talks with Cuban Parliament Speaker Esteban Lazo Hernandez.

Hernandez said that Syria under the leadership of President Al-Assad knows how to defend its achievements.

“Syria will inevitably triumph over terrorism and its supporters thanks to the steadfastness of the people and army,” he stressed

“Resistance plus steadfastness equal victory…This is the principle in which Cuba believes,” said Hernandez, hailing the steadfastness and resistance of the Syrian people and President Al-Assad for more than four years in the face of terrorism and its supporters.

He affirmed that the Cuban people and government always support Syria, because “we believe that the Syrians are defending their country’s sovereignty, independence and dignity.”

Al-Hilal, on his part, said that both Syria and Cuba are being targeted for their adherence to defending their sovereignty and independence and for backing liberation and resistance movements against colonialism, particularly the Zionist entity.

He urged the Cuban parliament and other Latin American parliaments to continue supporting the Syria’s just stances.
