Tehran– Marziyeh Afkham said that articles in Camp David statement reflect contradictions in words and deeds of participating countries in that meeting, especially in the part related to the situation in Yemen.
The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman focusing on the issues related to Iran in the Camp David statement, said that Iran has always emphasized the need for resolving the prevailing crises in the region refraining from military options and resorting to dialogue and political solutions.
‘Unfortunately such behaviors as military invasion against Yemen and ignoring the territorial integrity of that country under US support for that invasion was not only contradictory with the international regulations, but also in contradiction with some articles of the Camp David statement,’ she added.
Afkham said that the participating countries in that meeting should have had more harmony between their words and their deeds.
Reacting to the claims made on Iran’s destabilizing role in the region, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that the claim is not only repetitious, but also contrary to the regional realities that prove the opposite.
Afkham said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always favored peaceful coexistence with the neighboring countries and has in none of the regional conflicts advised resorting to military option and ignoring the territorial integrity of the countries.
‘Iran believes those who instead of serious campaign against terrorism destroy the infrastructures of their neighboring and brother country resorting to militarism and deeply threaten the regional peace and stability are not entitled the right to judge about the others’ behaviors,’ said the Iranian diplomat.
Afkham reiterated Iran’s resolute belief that the region’s major problem is today terrorism and the growth of the extremist and Takfiri groups.
‘Iran also believes that all the regional and international players must in this campaign indiscriminately, and refraining from chanting slogans and making claims, act seriously to uproot that inhumane phenomenon,’ she added.
ON PGCC countries’ invitation of Iran to enter dialogue with the PGCC, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that Iran has always stressed the necessity of holding dialogue with the neighboring countries and been a pioneer in that path.
‘It would be better for the other side to refrain from their present day approach, end projection of self deficiencies and accusations, and prove their good will by sustainable taking trust building steps,’ concluded Afkham.
