Syrian army recaptures strategic area north of Damascus, kills many terrorists on several fronts

PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army in cooperation with resistance groups recaptured today the strategic Asal al-Ward barrens in Damascus countryside, media sources confirmed.

The sources said that Syrian army and resistance groups regained control over AL-Qerneh plateau, which consists of 3 hills, after they attacked terrorists in Asal al-Ward barrens and al-Jebeh area in al-Qalamoun area, north of Damascus.

The attack resulted in the collapse of the terrorists’ defenses and the death of dozens of terrorists as well as the recapture of the strategic Asal al-Ward barrens.

Al-Nusra Front leader, Abo Ahmad Mojahed, alongside all his group were killed in the area, according to the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen TV channel.

Asal al-Ward area, which enjoys a strategic position, overlooking  Lebanese border towns.

Southern front

The fresh achievement synchronized with killing many of terrorists affiliated to the ISIS and al-Nusra Front in the southern front and destroying several rocket launchers in the northern countryside of Lattakia, according to military sources.

A military source was quoted on the official news agency (SANA) as citing that an army unit carried out concentrated strikes against ISIS groupings in Tlol al-Fedyen, west of Asfar area in the northeastern countryside of Sweida, and killed many terrorists there.

Several vehicles equipped with various types of gun machines belonging to the ISIS terrorists were destroyed in the strikes, the source added.

Last night, army units eliminated dozens of ISIS terrorists in an ambush on the outskirts of Tal al-Khaledeyeh area in the same area into which terrorists infiltrate through Jordanian-Iraqi border.

Army units in cooperation with popular defense groups seek to cut terrorists’ supply routes in al-Badia of Sweida, SANA said.

It added that army units targeted al-Nusra Front hideouts in several areas outside Daraa and Quneitra and destroyed rocket launchers belonging to terrorists in Marj Khokha, Jeb al-Ahmar and Salma towns in the northern Lattakia countryside.
