Syrian army retakes points from al-Nusra Front in northern Lattakia, destroys ISIS vehicles in Homs

PROVINCES,(ST)_Syrian army has regained control over several points in the northern countryside of Lattakia and has continued to strike terrorist outposts in Homs, Idlib, Hama and Daraa, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency reported today that army units recaptures several points on the outskirts of Markeshleyeh and Jeb al-Ahmar areas in the northern Lattakia countryside and made progress towards al-Nabi Yunis pleat where many al-Nusra Front terrorists were killed.

Further terrorists affiliated to the same terror organization [al-Nusra Front] and to the so-called ‘al-Mothanna Movement’  were killed and injured when army units struck an arms cache and a car belonging to terrorists in Daraa al-Balad quarter in Daraa province.

Most of the terrorists, who spread in Daraa al-Balad quarter, have been infiltrated into Syria after they received training in camps under supervision of the Jordanian regime and some intelligence bodies against Syria.

The training is financed by Gulf regimes.

Dozens of vehicles destroyed

In the same province [Daraa], army units eliminated many of al-Nusra Front terrorists  in the strategic al-Harra hill and destroyed 3 vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns in Tafas city .

While in the central region, army units, supported by warplanes, destroyed dozens of the ISIS vehicles in the eastern countryside of Homs and mowed down many of al-Nusra Front terrorists in the northern countryside of the same province.

About 46km north of Homs, precisely in Hama, army units carried out a series of operations against terrorist organizations on the outskirts of al-Sermaneyeh and Ghanyeh towns  in the northwestern countryside of the province.

Many of al-Nusra Front terrorist were killed in a qualitative operation in Ghanyeh town, which lies on the outskirts of of Jisr Esh Shugur city outside Idlib, a military source said.

The Syrian TV channel said that over 17 terrorists were killed in an ambush on the outskirts of al-Mansoura town in the northwestern countryside of Hama. 

Last night, Syrian warplanes destroyed vehicles belonging to terrorists on the outskirts of Ein al-Soda and on Darkosh-Zarzour axis in the northwestern countryside of Idil.

The vehicles were coming from the Turkish territory.  

There were also other operations against ISIS hideouts in Jabal Abdulaziz and in towns of Soda and Abed, south-west of Hassaka city.

Defense Minister visits military post

Separately, SANA said that Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Defense Minister Gen. Fahed Jassem al-Freij made a field visit to a military post and met the soldiers on the ground on occasion of Martyrs Day.

Gen. al-Freij conveyed the greetings of President Bashar al-Assad to the soldiers, expressing pride in sacrifices and heroic deeds of Syrian Arab army personnel and their high morale and spirit.

On the same occasion, the Defense Minister and the Head of the General Staff honored a number of families and relatives of martyrs.

“The blood of martyrs is paving the way towards victory,” al-Freij stressed.
