The late President Hafez AL-Assad Inaugurates the Unknown Soldier Monument on October 6, 1993

The day I inaugurate the tomb of the unknown soldier is a great day both emotionally and intellectually. It is a remarkable day when man takes a journey down the history lane the most prominent of which is the martyr chapter.

Martyrdom is an action of giving boundless love. The martyr is the one who defended the nation with no second thought to protect the pride of the people and the nation. People who believe in martyrdom are the ones enjoying a latitudinal freedom that would not be subdued and ultimately capable of braving all challenges.

people who believe in embracing martyrdom for the sake of the  creator and the masses are unambiguously victorious.

I inaugurate this cenotaph on October the 6th when our people and army set a flawless record of fortitude on the battlefield. Our forces have irrevocably opted for victory demonstrating their courage and alacrity knowing that they are aligned with unified people ready to assume the best missions that culminated in an epic victory.

Inaugurating the martyr cenotaph on the sixth of October is an immeasurable honor and dedication from the bottom of our hearts for both events that have been handsomely manifested by the brightest chapters of sublimity.

Our martyrs in October war and over the passage of history will  remain motivational and saviors of the dignity of the nation.

You are the martyrs that have been elevated to be among the prophets and the devout to remain archetypal luminaries forever.

M.A.
