Competent authorities kill terrorist group, defuse car bomb in Damascus

DAMASCUS,(ST)_The competent authorities have killed a terrorist group east of Ruknedden quarter in Damascus, a military source said Monday.

The source clarified that one of the terrorist group’s members blew himself up as the competent authorities were pursuing the group.

The official news agency (SANA) posted photos of some terrorists killed in the quarter of Ruknedden, north of Damascus, including photos of the cars damaged in the site.

In this context, the al-Nusra Front organization confirmed through twitter that many of its members were killed in the Berneyeh Street in the quarter of Ruknedden in the capital [Damascus].

In 2013, a car bomb exploded in the same area where 3 civilians were martyred and several others wounded.

About 1200 meters far away from the said street, the competent authorities dismantled a car rigged with about 150kg of explosives  in the al-Hayat Street at the northern entry of Damascus.

The car was coming from Barzeh quarter towards the center of the city, a source at the province of Damascus said, adding that explosives were found inside the door of the car and under the driver’s chair.
