PLO delegation to arrive in Damascus tomorrow to discuss ‘Yarmouk camp’ situation

A large delegation from the PLO is due to arrive in Damascus tomorrow to discuss with the Syrian government the situation in the Palestinian refugees camps, including the Yarmouk camp, according to the official Tishreen newspaper.

The paper quoted member of the Palestinian Liberation Front’s Politburo Tayser Abo Baker as saying that Dr. Zakareya al-Agha, member of the Palestinian Liberation Organizations’ Executive Committee, will head the delegation.

“The delegation will discuss with Syrian officials the mechanism of getting out the terrorist organizations –ISIS and the al-Nusr Front and allied groups- from the Yarmouk camp in order to make the camp free of weapons and gunmen for the return of the Palestinians and Syrians to their homes there,” Abo Baker said.

He added that the two sides will also debate how to aid the Palestinian refugees in all camps and the displaced ones in Syria.

In this context, the Syrian government , the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) distributed last month humanitarian aid carried by 55 trucks to people displaced from Yarmouk camp.

The aid were delivered to the people in towns of Yalda, Bait Sahem and Babila, which are located near the Yarmouk camp south of Damascus.

The Palestinian official indicated that the discussion will also deal with the ways of sparing the Palestinian refugees camps as the refugees are guests in Syria till they notch up their legitimate national goals, including their right of return their homeland [Palestine].

On April 28, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Faisal al-Miqdad said Syria will hold permanent consultations with the Palestinian leadership, particularly regarding the issue of Palestinian camps.

” Syria will do its utmost to prevent the ISIS and other terrorist organizations from affecting the right of Palestinians to return their homeland,” al-Miqdad stressed.

On his part, National Reconciliation Minister Dr. Ali Haidar underscored on April 22 that he Palestinian cause will remain a central issue for Syria, noting that there is no difference between terrorism that targets Syria and Palestine.

Three days ago, the Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi declared that Syrian army will never enter the Yarmouk camp, yet it will never allow terrorists to get out of it.

On April 1, the ISIS terrorists entered al-Yarmouk camp in collision with the al-Nusra Front terrorists to abort a local reconciliation agreement that was to be signed on April 3.
